Ada Friedman had a solo presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach, Positions, with Kendra Jayne Patrick (2023) and has had recent solo and two-person shows at David Peter Francis, NYC (2024), Kendra Jayne Patrick, Bern, Switzerland (2022), The University of Tennessee Downtown Gallery, Knoxville, TN (2022) and Grifter, NYC (2020). Her work was included in ‘The Living Room,’ a curated showcase of ‘artists to watch’ at the Art Genéve art fair, in Geneva, Switzerland (2023). Friedman has participated in groups shows at Yeh Gallery at St. John’s University, Queens, NY; Situations, NYC; Adds Donna, Chicago; and Redling Fine Art, LA, among others. Her plays or time-based paintings have been staged in NYC at All Saints Church, Essex Flowers, White Columns, and Safe Gallery. She holds an MFA in Painting from Bard College and has participated in residencies such as Shandaken Projects, NY, and Clay Break at The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR. Friedman’s artist books, Because Nothing Ends, was published by Peradam (2013), and Drawing Hilma Af Klint, made in collaboration with artists Ariel Dill and Denise Schatz, was published by Miniature Garden (2014, second edition 2019). She is a founding member of the artist-run cooperative gallery Essex Flowers in NYC and was a Visiting Artist/Lecturer in Painting and Drawing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (2021-22). Ada and her cat, Star, currently divide their time between New York City and the Texas Hill Country.
